Event description:

Wood Turning in North America since 1930, jointly organized by the Center for Art in Wood (at that time, the Wood Turning Center), Philadelphia, and the Yale University Art Gallery, was the first retrospective of this vibrant craft field. It began its tour at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in October 2001 before traveling to the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C., and the Gallery. From two of the organizers, Patricia E. Kane, Friends of American Arts Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Gallery, and Albert LeCoff, Executive Director Emeritus and Co-Founder of the Center for Art in Wood, hear about the conception of the exhibition and about some of its major works, many of which are now in the Leslie P. and George H. Hume, B.A. 1969, American Furniture Study Center at Yale West Campus.
